Abstract

Chronic kidney disease in the final stages requires kidney replacement therapy, namely hemodialysis. The hemodialysis process is carried out throughout the patient’s life to maintain kidney function. The long process can sometimes cause complications in the form of infection which generally occurs when installing a Duo Lumen Catheter (DLC). This research was conducted to provide appropriate nutritional care for patients diagnosed with DLC infection, chronic kidney disease and cardiac hypertension. This research is observational using the case study method. The case study was carried out by RSUP dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Makassar in April 2024. The research was conducted by observing patients on April 1 2024 using basic data (Nutrition Assessment), then providing nutritional intervention for 5 days. During the intervention, monitoring and evaluation of the patient’s body weight, nutritional intake, biochemical data and physical data on nutritional focus are also carried out. The nutritional diagnosis assigned to the patient was NI-2.1 and NC-2.2. During the intervention, the patient’s weight increased by 0.3 kg, but returned to his initial weight at the end of the intervention. The patient’s nutritional intake increased during the intervention, but the percentage of adequacy was still in the inadequate category. Biochemical examinations on patients are only carried out once, namely before the intervention. During the intervention, the patient’s complaints improved and the patient’s blood pressure, temperature, pulse and breathing were normal. The diagnosis of NI-2.1 nutrition in the patient was still made after the intervention, because his intake was still in the inadequate category.
