Abstract

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)/Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) continues to be a global health problem affecting many countries, including Indonesia, where the number of cases continues to rise each year. To date, no nation has been free from this disease. The complexity of the challenges faced by people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) significantly affects their quality of life and mental health. To cope with these stressors, effective and appropriate coping strategies are essential. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between coping strategies, mental health, and social support with the quality of life among HIV/AIDS patients. An analytical quantitative method employing a cross-sectional design was applied, utilizing univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses. The research population was composed of all HIV/AIDS patients undergoing treatment at the VCT Clinic of Kendari City Hospital. Using the P formula for binomial proportions, a total sample of 186 respondents was obtained. Data were analyzed with Chi-square tests and logistic regression. The outcomes highlighted a significant influence of coping strategies (p = 0.004), mental health (p = 0.001), and social support (p = 0.006) on the quality of life of HIV/AIDS patients at Kendari City Hospital. Among these, coping strategies were identified as the most influential factor.
