Abstract

The puerperium is a period beginning a few hours after the placenta is delivered and lasting up to six weeks postpartum. During this period, physiological changes occur, including uterine involution through uterine contractions. Surgical wound infection (SWI), however, remains a serious complication that may develop in cesarean section wounds. Pineapple contains the bromelain enzyme, which stimulates prostaglandin production and promotes uterine contractions, while cork fish is rich in vitamins and albumin that support new cell formation, accelerate tissue repair, and help maintain vascular fluid balance. This study aimed to determine and analyze the effect of pineapple juice (Ananas comosus) and cork fish extract capsules (Ophiocephalus striatus) on accelerating uterine fundus height reduction and postoperative wound healing in postpartum women following cesarean section at BLUD Konawe Regency Hospital. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a sample of 30 respondents. Observation sheets were used as the research instrument, and data were analyzed using the Mann–Whitney test. Results showed a significant effect of pineapple juice and cork fish extract capsules on reducing uterine fundus height on the seventh day (p = 0.000 < 0.05) and on cesarean wound healing, which was observed on the fourth day (Asymp. Sig. [2-tailed] = 0.000 < 0.05).
