Abstract

As a new media, Wechat is expected to exert more and more influence on the government's work by its huge users and strong communication power. What is the value of this new media to the government? This paper mainly takes value theory and the spiral principle of silence as the analytical framework. It holds that the value of Wechat to the government is mainly public opinion. In the process of forming the value of public opinion, the climate of common opinion is the key to the formation of public opinion. In addition, from the perspective of the third-party effect, this paper explores the current strategies to achieve public opinion guidance under the new media, and puts forward three ways: technology checkpoint, government + KOL cooperation and reasonable discourse expression.
