Abstract

Nanoemulsion (NE) has been widely added into fracturing fluid as flowback additive to enhance fracturing fluid recovery. An environmental friendly nanoemulsion has been formulated. The particle size distribution of the nanoemulsion has been determined. The surface tension and contact angle of the nanoemulsion and commercial flowback additives have also been studied. The new nanoemulsion has lower surface tension and higher contact angle than commercial flowback additives. Two flowback recovery test apparatuses have been constructed, and fluid flowback recovery and gas-fluid flowback recovery experiments have been conducted. The new nanoemulsion gives higher fluid and gas-fluid recovery than that of conventional flowback additives.
