Abstract

The parametric analysis is carried out by using numerical simulation methods for the flow around a single cylinder. The influence of the three-dimensional effect, grid form, time step, turbulence model and sub-grid scale models on the calculation results are discussed, respectively. The analysis results show that the numerical simulation of the flow around a single cylinder cannot ignore the influence of the three-dimensional effect. The grid form of the core region and the grid quality of the near-wall have a great influence on the calculation results When time step is less than 0.001 s, the calculated value of drag coefficient is more close to experimental results. The Smagorinsky-Lilly model of the large eddy simulation is appropriate for the analysis of flow around the cylinder.
