- Abstract
Currently, the number of children with autism, also known as autism spectrum disorder, in Vietnam is increasing rapidly. According to data released by the General Statistics Office (January 2019), there are about 6.2 million people with disabilities aged 2 and over, of which about 1 million are autistic. The rate of children with autism is estimated at over 10‰ of children born. Therefore, inclusive education for autistic children is an urgent need in the preschool education program. The State needs to have policies to support the implementation of inclusive education for learners who are children in special circumstances such as autistic children. With the study “Meditation for children”, the article presents the results of a survey of autistic children (2-6 years old) with a sample of n = 104 autistic children in collaboration with 104 guardians and 104 preschool teachers in the old provinces (not yet merged provinces): Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Lam Dong practicing “Breathing meditation; Walking meditation; Lotus meditation and Starfish hand meditation”. The CARS scale is used to assess the level of children with autism spectrum disorder. After a period of applying the “Meditation for children” method, the author found that the initial results were one of the therapies to reduce the deficits in interaction and social communication of autistic children with equal access to inclusive education.
