Effect of Parent's Attention, Self- Concept, and Self-Study on Biology Students' Achievement at SMA Negeri 2 Sigi Biromaru

Abstract

This study aims to explain the influence of the level of parents attention, self-concept, self study of the level of student achievement in SMA Negeri 2 Sigi Biromaru District Sigi. The population in this study are all class XI student of natural science department for 52 students. The samples were taken by a saturated sampling technique (census). Data variable parents attention, the variable self-concept, and self study variable were taken by using a questionnaire and achievement variables by using the documentation of report cards. The data obtained were analyzed by correlation and multiple regression analysis. Test instruments include the validity and reliability. Validity of empirical formula of Pearson's moment product correlation. Reliability using Cronbach Alpha coefficient formula, and got the attention of the parents instruments equal to 0.883, self-concept instruments amounted equal to 0.849, and self study instrument equal to 0.928. The results showed that the tendency of student achievement in SMA Negeri 2 Sigi Biromaru District Sigi was very good in that category is 53.85%. This research also find the existents of significance that is attention parents equal to 0.628, self-concept equal to 0.697, and self study equal to 0.674. Effective contribution of attention parents, self-concept and self study equal to 74.8 % to learning achievement. Based on these results it can be concluded that the attention of parents, self-concept and self study has positive influence on student achievement.
