The present collection of scientific articles reflects the results of the 8th International Conference on Education, Language, Art and Inter-cultural Communication (ICELAIC 2021) held in Moscow on December 17-18, 2021. ICELAIC 2021 was conducted by the Leo Tolstoy Institute of Language and Culture and the International Science and Culture Center for Academic Contacts in the online conference mode on the Zoom platform.

ICELAIC 2021 was jointly organized by the Leo Tolstoy Institute of Language and Culture (Russia), the International Science and Culture Center for Academic Contacts (Russia), Zhengzhou Yingchun Conference Planning Co. Ltd (China) and the Moscow House of Nationalities (Russia).

This conference brought together scientists to discuss topical issues of modern humanitarian knowledge. All the studies presented in the collection are carried out within the framework of the anthropocentric paradigm, which offers the study of man in all his manifestations – linguistic, mental and spiritual. There are a total of 75 research articles submitted by scholars from 10 countries covering literary studies, linguistics, methods of teaching, semiotics etc. In the articles offered in the proceedings,a person is considered from the perspective of linguistic diversity, cognitive processes, experience acquisition, social interaction, self-expression and self-realization.

Cognitive research, stylistic and genre differences, as well as the reflection of the realities of modern life in language and speech are still of great interest in the field of philology. A number of articles is devoted to the problems of intercultural communication between East and West, discourse analysis and translation strategies. In the field of foreign language teaching methods, the emphasis is shifting to the study of application fields, in particular, specific learning strategies aiming at helping students to acquire specific skills and abilities. In the field of literary studies, the authors of the presented articles turn to the inner world of the characters, trying to penetrate into the depths of the human psyche, and also explore the influence of the environment on the spiritual development of the individual. Some articles are devoted to a detailed study of the life and work of certain writers and the development of literary trends.

All the papers submitted for publication in the proceedings have been thoroughly reviewed by three experts before being selected for publication. We would like to express our gratitude to all the reviewers, consultants, editors, as well as co-organizers, thanks to those who make it possible to hold a conference and publish a collection of scientific articles.
