Abstract

As a crucial direction for the transformation and upgrading of the global automotive industry, the formulation and improvement of safety regulation policies for New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) are directly related to the healthy development of the industry and public safety of life and property. After undergoing several developmental stages including initial exploration, regulatory strengthening, and system refinement, China’s new energy vehicle safety supervision policies still face four key issues: deficiencies in the safety standard system, weak links in whole-chain supervision, obstacles in cross-departmental coordination and data sharing, and shortcomings in regulatory means and supporting facilities. To address these problems, China’s new energy vehicle safety supervision policies should be improved in the future through the following four aspects: dynamically enhancing the safety standard system, strengthening whole-chain regulatory capacity, reinforcing cross-departmental coordination and data-sharing mechanisms, and optimizing regulatory means and supporting facilities.
