Abstract

In recent years, Northeast China has ushered in new opportunities and requirements for a new round of comprehensive revitalization. The Songliao Canal is a waterway project connecting the Songhua River and the Liaohe River, while also linking to the upstream Heilongjiang River, forming a key water transport corridor covering the three northeastern provinces of China. Its construction will have a profound impact on the economic and social development of the Northeast region. Based on the Point-Axis Development Theory and the development status of 22 cities along the Songliao Canal, this paper analyzes indicators such as city size and urban primacy index. Drawing on the development experiences of typical river basins such as the Yangtze River Economic Belt, it proposes development paths and strategies for the Songliao Canal Economic Belt, with the aim of promoting regional coordination and high-quality development in Northeast China.
