- Abstract
Reading in the Javanese language is challenging for early grade students of elementary schools. Graded reading books to ease up reading in the language have not been available. This R & D work has previously produced graded readers written in the Javanese language. This study is then intended to know the effectiveness of the books in the teaching of reading comprehension to the students of the early grades of elementary schools. This was a quasi-experimental research. The population of this study was all the 138 early grade students with class 2A and class 2B as samples. The data were collected using learning observation sheets and tests to be then analyzed using t-test. The results show that the t-count was 0.000
