- Abstract
Gerrymandering implies altering boundaries of districts or constituencies to favor an entity or individual with influence at the disadvantage of another. Electoral malpractices are a significant part of political and scholarly discourse. One of the means by which electoral injustice may manifest is through gerrymandering. Most of the mechanisms and suggestions to fix gerrymandering are political and legal-social. Previous authors have used geometric approach to elucidate the compactness metric. In this paper, we propose a population density model to analyse the compactness metric to tackle gerrymandering in Ghana through the Compactness Population Quotient approach (CPQ). In comparison with traditional Compactness Measures, the CPQ always performs better and gives a greater degree of compactness.
