Abstract

Hecai is a place name of Juye county in history which had been existing for more than 900 years from Hecai Town in Song Dynasty to Hecai Li in Jin and Yuan Dynasties and to Hecai Bao in Ming and Qing Dynasties. Through the carding and analysis of the reference, it can be determined that the respective “Hecai” in those dynasties are actually the same place. The records in the History of Ming Dynasty and Essentials of Geography for Reading History are mistaken for the location of Hecai town in Northern Song Dynasty. Hecai town should be located in Longgu Town which is 50 miles southwest of Juye instead of 60 miles northwest of Juye.
