Abstract

The relationship between the build-up of artists’ identity and their artwork creations is always close. In artists’ traditional opinions, artists’ artworks can be deemed as the identity of artists. In the long history of arts development and evolution, artists’ influence on their artworks can’t be neglected. The proper artworks, the roles and the influential power of an artist are the key factors to ascertain the identity of an artist. Therefore, the word “artist” has become the representative of “talent” and “creativity”. However, “Art World” theory proposed by Becker unveiled the sanctity of artists’ identity to some extent. The objective of this paper is to explore “Art World” and study how artists’ identity is switched, to analyze the identity build-up and self-identification of artists anddiscuss and expound the profile of artists from the perspective of sociology.
