Abstract

Stress and burnout are growing concerns in the current work environment, particularly in the long-term care sector. This study examines how job demands influence burnout through work-family conflict (WFC) and investigates whether job roles (i.e., employees vs. managers) impact this relationship. One thousand seven hundred eight long-term care workers were surveyed on their job demands, WFC, and perceived level of burnout. Results show that employees with higher job demands had more burnout, partially mediated by WFC. Notably, the association between job demands and burnout was stronger for managers than employees. These results imply the need for tailored interventions for professionals with different job titles. This study offers valuable insights for creating healthier work environments in long-term care settings.
