Abstract

The paper will explain how the new technologies are transforming the conventional library services into knowledge centres that are user absorbing. It explores how technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing and automation has been adopted in the redesign of the work of libraries and the enhanced access to information. The work is the one that identifies the primary tendencies i.e. digitization, automation, access through the internet, collaborative networks, which in turn contribute to this change. It also discusses the major concerns that are hindering use of technology in such financial limitations, man power, resistance to change, infrastructural and data security in libraries. To resolve such obstacles, the paper will provide such recommendations and solutions to the problems as lifelong learning, open-source solutions, and collaboration with other libraries, and encouraging digital literacy. Lastly, it maintains that not only does the use of technology increase the efficiency and inclusiveness of libraries; it also establishes libraries as an essential component of research and teaching as well as one of the elements of lifelong learning in the digitally allied society.
