Abstract

Rolling force model was developed in which the contact arc surface was adopted as slipping and stagnant friction. The positions of neutral plane, forward and backward slipping zone, and stagnant zone were computed with improved genetic algorithm. Rolling forces of hot strip were simulated, which agreed with measured ones from a hot strip plant.
