We are delighted to present Proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Sciences, Mathematics, and Education 2023 (ICOSMED 2023), held in Gorontalo, Indonesia, on October 17–18, 2023. Under the theme “Emerging Trends and Applications of AI and Machine Learning for Development Research, Sciences, and Education,” this conference provided a vibrant platform for fostering dialogue, collaboration, and innovation among researchers, academics, scientists, educators, and practitioners from diverse fields.

ICOSMED 2023 aimed to explore the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in addressing contemporary challenges and driving advancements in development research, sciences, and education. By bringing together a wide range of expertise and perspectives, the conference sought to bridge the gap between theoretical research and practical applications, emphasizing the role of emerging technologies in shaping a sustainable and technologically advanced future.

The selected papers in this volume reflect the multidisciplinary nature of the conference and showcase the dynamic intersections of research and practice. The proceedings encompass a broad spectrum of topics, including advancements in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, where new models and algorithms leveraging AI and ML are developed. In Physics and Applied Physics, innovations in computational methods and data-driven approaches are highlighted. The fields of Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, and Life and Environmental Sciences feature applications of AI and ML in solving complex biological and environmental challenges. Geosciences contributions focus on advancements in geospatial analysis and predictive modeling. Computer Sciences papers explore cutting-edge developments in AI, ML, and their applications across domains. Additionally, the proceedings include research on Recent Trends in Science and Mathematics Education, particularly the integration of AI and ML into teaching and learning methodologies.

These contributions underscore the conference’s commitment to fostering knowledge exchange, promoting innovative solutions, and addressing the evolving needs of science, mathematics, and education in the era of AI and ML.
