The risks of the pandemic COVID-19—hit the world in 2020—have brought a real jeopardy; new crises, new problems, new challenges that have radically changed ways of living of all human beings in almost all everyday activities around this globe. The issues of sustainability as the core principle to govern today’s society—social, cultural, political, and education—have been more prominent yet faced more difficult challenges. The 5th International Conference of Social Science and Education—organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, Indonesia—has made the academic events to explore and elaborate on the ways our social, political, and education programs and activities sustaining and transforming during the post-pandemic time. This new social fabric—thanks to the Internet!—has re-shaped all established social institutions—states/government bodies, private companies, churches/religious organizations, schools/universities, and so forth—on their approaches and serves the populace as well as their adaptation and change to survive and sustain.

We thank for all the supports given by Dean, Dr. Suhadi Purwantara; Vice Dean of the Academic Affairs, Dr. Dyah Kumalasari; Vice Dean of the Finance and Asset, Prof. Dr. Suranto; and Vice Dean of the Students and Alumni, Dr. Supardi. We also appreciate for all hard works given by the editorial board and editor of the volume, Prof. Dr. Wiel Veugelers of University of Humanistic Studies; Dr. Suhaimi of Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia; Dr. Nursida Arif and Danu Eko Agustinova of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta; and for valuable technical and non-technical supports from Benni Setiawan and Sutanto Trijuni Putro.
