Abstract

Economic development is one of the important things in the achievement of the economy in a country. But, in the process of economic development, there are many imbalances. From the various types of inequality that occurred during the economic development process, it can be concluded that these imbalances occur because of the imbalance in the achievement of economic development, namely between the monetary and real sector. It means that economic growth achieved by a country (monetary sector) is not accompanied by the growth of real sector in peoples lives, that is the level of poverty also experienced an increase not decrease. If examined more deeply, the main problem as well as liaison between the two sectors is located on the distribution function of economic growth to the community. Therefore, if we want to align the two sectors, it is necessary to improve the efforts in terms of distribution. This is where the role of the financial system is needed as an intermediator. Unfortunately, the two economic systems that have been run in various developed countries (capitalism and socialism economic systems) do not offer the concept of effective and efficient distribution as expected. Many do not know that the Islamic financial and economic system was able to answer the imbalance in economic development, particularly in terms of distribution in a comprehensive and consistent with the goals and objectives of the concept of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
