- Abstract
This research focuses on the digital literacy and social media tools on their roles, functions, and perceptions in academic and professional domains. The findings reveal that 89% of the respondents self-assess their digital competence while 91.90% have participated in some form of training on digital literacy. Social media like Google Scholar, WhatsApp, ResearchGate, and Twitter (X) are mainly used for academic purposes. The respondents overwhelmingly agree that social media enhances communication, collaboration, and learning. Additionally, 97% of respondents reported social media was helpful for networking professionally and academically. Many respondents, however, realize the need for training on privacy and information overload. This social media digital literacy study concludes that such skill sets are essential for the current education systems.
