- Abstract
Based on the unique characteristics of civil engineering courses and the learning styles of contemporary college students, this study explores teaching models and methods for blended online-offline instruction in the Fundamentals of Engineering course. Adopting a student-centered, outcomes-based approach, it establishes a new, integrated teaching philosophy that combines knowledge acquisition, skill development, and personal growth. Utilizing online teaching platforms and taking the Fundamentals of Engineering course as an example, this study incorporates specific engineering case studies and integrates the concept of ideological and political education into the curriculum. By addressing teaching philosophy, instructional methods, and assessment approaches, it reshapes pedagogical concepts, reorganizes knowledge modules, optimizes instructional design, and reforms the assessment and evaluation system. This approach aims to achieve full student participation, comprehensive process management, and all-around improvement, thereby cultivating versatile talents capable of adapting to local, applied, and international contexts.
