- Abstract
This study explores the use of digital simulation-based tasks within a Content-Based Instruction (CBI) framework for teaching English to nutrition students at a public university in Indonesia. Employing a qualitative case study design, the study involved first-year undergraduate nutrition students enrolled in an English course integrating discipline-related content. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, reflective notes, and learning artefacts, and analyzed thematically. The findings indicate that video-based and multimedia simulation tasks supported students’ engagement with nutrition-related topics and encouraged contextualized language use. However, variations in students’ participation and confidence were also observed, particularly among learners with lower English proficiency. Rather than claiming instructional effectiveness, this study provides a contextually grounded illustration of how simulation-like digital tasks can be integrated into CBI practices in an ESP setting. The study highlights pedagogical considerations for implementing digital tasks in content-based language instruction.
