Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of social media and political activism. In summary, the researcher found that social media is all around, giving people who can occupy a lot of media space, always has an advantage, especially the dominance of political ideas and decision-making according to the policies of political parties. It also influences youth activism, which is the premise that Friendship-Driven and Interested-Driven online activity fosters political participation. This highlights the political significance of weak ties as embodied in large social networks. In doing so, the study deepened the understanding of how common forms of engagement with social media can influence youth political development and participation in the digital age. Discussions and suggestions were discussed in the latter part of this paper.
