Abstract

Interviews are a typical process used by organizations in recruitment to understand personalities and capabilities of their potential employees. However, what is reviewed in an interview may not faithfully reflect the interviewees’ traits, resulting in the organizations hiring unsuited candidates for their positions. In this paper, a review will be made on researches studying strategies interviewees adopt that may affect interviewers’ decision-making, especially impression management and preparation, and factors that may lead to employees’ tendency to impression management. This paper will also review suggestions that may improve interviews’ effectiveness.
