Proceedings of the International Conference on Language Phenomena in Multimodal Communication (KLUA 2018)

The Second Linguistics Conference of Universitas Airlangga (also known as Konferensi Linguistik Universitas Airlangga – KLUA) was held in Surabaya, Indonesia on 17-19 July 2018. The theme of the conference is “Language Phenomena in Multimodal Communication”. The conference was organized by the Linguistics Postgraduate Program of the Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia.

In the call for papers, the committee received 124 abstracts. Each of these abstracts was reviewed by two reviewers to determine whether they could be accepted or not. For the abstracts which were recommended to be accepted, the reviewers provided some suggestions for the authors in order to augment the abstracts and in writing the full papers. Based on the abstract review process, there were 78 abstracts accepted to be presented in the conference.

The authors of the 78 abstracts were then asked to make the full papers following the paper guidelines determined by the committee and the suggestions made by the reviewers. Each of the full papers submitted was reviewed by the same reviewers to ensure that the suggestions have been included in the full papers. Based on the result of the full paper review process, there were 64 full papers accepted to be included in this proceedings.

We hope that the papers included in this proceedings will provide new insights and ideas for the readers and other researchers interested in studying language phenomena in multimodal communication.
