Abstract

Future school leadership prototypes encourage the early exploration of both aspiring and skilled leaders’ emotional intelligence (EI) to develop the entrepreneurial leadership capacity for this population. The mixed-methods exploratory research focuses on the top leadership in K-12 education at the holistic level by including school inspectors, head teachers, middle leaders, and members of the administration council of schools to explore EI using validated self-report measures.

This chapter integrates the transformative model of emotional intelligence (TEI) to address top leaders’ variable states of leadership and emotional intelligence. The purpose of this mixed-methods exploratory research was twofold. Guided by TEI theory, the study’s quantitative research questions sought to detect differences in key EI skills and 3 potential problematic measures along with 4 personality patterns among top leaders from K-12 education: school inspectors, head teachers, middle leaders, and members of the administration council of schools. Merging top leaders’ participation as the key founders of EI skilled-based future leaders is recommended. Our research sheds light on the need to capture and generate evidence-based leadership practices to enhance the leadership community among educational leaders.
