Abstract

The emergence of full-controlled power electronic devices, such as VSC, provides a new direction for the development of HVDC. Based on the analysis of the steady-state model of VSC-HVDC, its mathematical model for Newton method power flow caluclation is developed. This paper proposes a uniform iterative power flow calculation algorithm for systems equipped with VSC-HVDCs. Simulative results for the modified IEEE-14 node test system demonstrate the validity and accuracy of the algorithm.
