- Abstract
This study investigates the impact of art therapy interventions on executive function (EF) and emotional security in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This investigation reveals that clay modeling, rhythmic music therapy, and parent - child collaborative creative endeavors, significantly enhance executive function skills. These enhancements are linked to sensory integration processes that regulate neural pathways. Simultaneously, art therapy is significant in cultivating emotional security. This is accomplished by enhancing attachment via dyadic synchrony. There is a remarkable change in attachment patterns. Additionally, cortisol levels are reduced during the therapy sessions. Importantly, art therapy outcomes vary by ASD severity. Rhythmic interventions are especially advantageous for children with high - support requirements. Symbolic arts are more efficient in helping verbal subgroups. Overall, these results strongly support the adoption of individualized, art-centered methods in interventions for ASD. This emphasizes their two-fold importance in facilitating both cognitive and emotional growth.
