- Abstract
English has become the primary language in education around the world, which raises questions about language diversity and cultures being set aside. Many people associate stronger English skills with better jobs and international opportunities, and this study investigated English as a factor that threatens significant linguistic diversity. The article focuses on the following topics: the problem of multilingual learning in English-only systems, the causes of language shifts, and practical advice for maintaining diversity. It was shown through thematic analysis that although people praise the benefits of being multilingual, education primarily focuses on one language. Such difference maintains existing inequality, reduces learners’ identities, and hasten the loss of minority languages. In the end, the study highlights that achieving linguistic justice calls for new approaches in education, community involvement in languages, and more training for teachers in learning several languages. Multilingual education should be seen as a given right, helping achieve equality and preserve culture.
