Abstract

Epimedium is a kind of traditional Chinese medicinal materials, which is regarded as, at present, the one of the most valuable medicinal plants in China. The chemical components of Barrenwort mainly contain flavonoids, phenol glycosides, chromones, phenylethanoid glycosides and steroids, which are verified that they have some effect on central nervous, skeletal system, immune system, reproductive system and cardiovascular system, and have distinct anti-tumor and antioxidant effect in modern pharmacology study. The following is an overview.
