Main melody songs are art works created in the process of the Chinese nation’s modern historical changes, which has the functions of carrying forward the spirit of the times, disseminating the mainstream value, and encouraging emotional resonance. It coincides with the value demands and goal requirements of ideological and political courses in colleges and universities. In view of this, the teaching of ideological and political courses in colleges and universities must give full play to the strong incentive role of the main melody songs. The internal mechanism and practical dilemma of coupling development between the teaching of ideological and political courses and the main melody songs should be actively explored. And put forward the countermeasures and suggestions of their synergistic education.
