The 2022 7th International Conference on Modern Management and Education Technology (MMET 2022) was successfully held on September 23–25, 2022, in Xiamen, China (online conference). MMET 2022 encouraged information exchange at the forefront of research in different fields and connected the most advanced academic resources in China and the world, transforming research results into industrial solutions.

We were greatly honored to have both Prof. Yushi Jiang from Southwest Jiaotong University, China, and Prof. Hairul Nizam Ismail from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Malaysia, to serve as our Conference General Chairs. There were 100 individuals attending the conference. Divided into three parts, the conference agenda covered keynote speeches, oral presentations, and online Q&A discussion. Firstly, keynote speakers were each allocated 30–45 min to hold their speeches. Then in the oral presentations, the excellent papers we had selected were presented by their authors by turns.

During the conference, four sophisticated professors were invited to address their keynote speeches. Among them, Prof. Yushi Jiang, one of our Conference General Chairs, delivered a speech on the topic: The Effects of Fear of Missing Out on Social Media Posting Preferences. This research aimed to examine how FOMO, a common phenomenon on social media, influences consumer preferences for posting about identity-relevant products on social media, and three studies were conducted to explore the effects of FOMO in different real-life situations. Additionally, Assoc. Prof. Thanomporn Laohajaratsang from Chiang Mai University, Thailand, gave a report Digital Technology and Educational Management in Higher Education: A Case study of Chiang Mai University. In this presentation, the driving factors regarding digital the transformation which were forcibly imposed upon higher educational institutes were examined, and the current status of digital transformation plans was demonstrated and discussed upon. Last but not least, Prof. Minhong (Maggie) Wang from The University of Hong Kong, China, shared with us her study: Supporting Self-directed Learning with Technology: Opportunities and Challenges, in which she discussed the opportunities and challenges in supporting self-directed learning in technology-rich environments. Their brilliant speeches had triggered heated discussion. Moreover, every participant praised this conference for disseminating useful and insightful knowledge.

After months of well preparation and hard work, the proceedings of MMET 2022 covering a bunch of papers is smoothly published. These papers feature but are not limited to the following topics: Education Science, Management Science, Culture, Psychology, Sports, Law, etc. All the papers have been checked through rigorous review and processes to meet the requirements of publication.

On behalf of the organizing committee, we would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to all the keynote speakers, peer reviewers, and all the participants. Particularly, we would like to acknowledge the Atlantis Press, for the endeavor of all its colleagues in publishing this paper volume. We firmly believe that all the attendees have had fruitful discussions and gained valuable knowledge and will enjoy the opportunity for future collaborations.
