Research on Desertification Information Translation and Dynamic Change: A Case of Xilinguole League

Abstract

In this study, remote sensing and 3S technology, combination of field investigation and field recording were used to extract the information of desertification and analyze the dynamic changes of land desertification in Xilinguole League, trying to find out the characteristic desertification change of Xilinguole League during the recent 20 years, and then providing some measures for the Xilinguole League desertification disaster prevention and mitigation. The results shown that: there were five different types of desertification in Xilinguole League, including very severe desertification, severe desertification, moderate desertification, light desertification and non desertification. (2) Generally, the desertification area of Xilinguole League indicated a decrease trend, while its degree shown an increase trend during the period of 1990-2010. Specifically, moderate desertification, severe desertification and very severe desertification shown increase trends, while light desertification and non desertification indicated the reverse trends. (3) Obvious regional differences of desertification degree were existed: from southwest to northeast, there was a transition area from high to low: Serious deterioration phenomenon happened in the Southwest: the light desertification area turned into moderate desertification in Sonid Left Banner, Sonid Right Banner and Erenhot City. And the severe deterioration occurred in the north-eastern part, and the area in the middle of East Ujimqin, especially around the water area, become very severe desertification.
