The International Conference on Resources and Technology (RESAT) is a bi-annual conference organized by the German-Mongolian Institute for Resources and Technology (GMIT).

The goal of the conference is to bring together academics and engineers from a variety of related disciplines, entrepreneurs, and government officials to present and exchange knowledge, experience, results, and information on the following topics:

• Sustainable use of natural resources.
• Environmental and economic challenges in raw material extraction and processing.
• Resource-oriented engineering development.
• Energy efficiency and renewable energies.

The 2nd International Conference on Resources and Technology was successfully organized in Ulaanbaatar on June 19 and 20, 2023. At the conference, academics from universities and representatives of companies exchanged their knowledge and experience on topics such as natural resources, their sustainable use, the environment and economic challenges facing the extraction and processing of raw materials, the development of resource-oriented engineering technology, energy efficiency, and renewable energy. In addition, with the support of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), a sub-session on Mining Law and Environmental Law was organized among attendees from Mongolia, Germany, and China. Furthermore, GMIT hosted the 12 Regional Meeting of the Society of Mining Professors (SOMP) which immediately followed on June 22 and 23, 2023.

A number of over 150 participants from various countries, namely Germany, Mongolia, the USA, Australia, Namibia, South Korea, Japan, China, and Spain, were involved in the three-day event including a field trip to Baganuur JSC. Participants explored contemporary issues such as sustainable development, tech innovation, and policies for emerging markets of natural resources while rethinking inflexible models and embracing new strategies for efficient and impactful transformation. Among the presenters, there were 2 plenary speakers, 40 oral presenters, and 14 poster presenters, who represented over 30 institutions, including universities, NGOs, national institutes, and companies.

The participants were able to submit the full papers for the proceeding of the second International Conference on Resources and Technology (RESAT 2023) to publish with a DOI number in a series of Advances in Engineering Research from the Atlantis Press publisher. In this series, 21 articles were submitted and sent for peer review, and only 16 articles were accepted and presented here.
