Author Guidelines

JNMP publishes original research papers in the fields of mathematics and physics. JNMP publishes letters (short notes), original research articles and review articles. Only papers that fall within the aims and scope of JNMP will be considered for publication.

High quality research papers are considered for publication if they have not been published previously and are not under consideration elsewhere. Authors are reminded that papers are published to be read and should compose their works with as wide audience in mind as is consistent with the maintenance of scientific quality.

Submitting your paper

Once the letter/article/review article has been prepared using the JNMP guidelines and style file, please submit a PDF version of the paper by email to the following address:

Author instructions, Templates and Sample files

JNMP requires all papers to be prepared as LaTeX-files as this will give the best formatting results. However, for the submission, please use a PDF version of your article.

For the submission of a paper in LaTeX the author is required to read and use use the JNMP instruction files, templates and samples which have been prepared by Atlantis Press. For the LaTeX instructions, please click here.

Code of Ethics, malpractice and conduct

The publication of an article in a peer-reviewed journal or conference proceedings is an essential building block in the development of a coherent and respected network of knowledge. It is a direct reflection of the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the scientific method. It is therefore important to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the author, the journal editor, the peer reviewer, the publisher and the society of society-owned or sponsored journals.

Please see here for the publication ethics and malpractice statement Atlantis Press adheres to (COPE). Please click here for the code of conduct statement we apply (COPE).

JNMP is co-published with Taylor and Francis and we apply the T&F copyright policy regarding the published papers. Once the paper is ready for publication, T&F requires a copyright transfer. A copyright license form will be sent to you when you receive the proofs of your paper that is to be published. Please do not send the filled out license form to us by post, but send it back by email only.

For more information on T&F's copyright policy, please refer to this page.

Editorial policy

After a first check whether the paper is within the aims and scope and of reasonable scientific quality, all papers are reviewed by at least one external referee and by one member of the Editorial Board.

Based on their review reports a final assessment will be made by the Editor-in-chief. The Editor-in-chief takes the final decision on the acceptance of a reviewed paper. Four outcomes are possible:

  • Accepted: the paper is accepted for publication, no changes are needed;
  • Revision requested: the authors are requested to make minor revisions according to the instructions from the the referee(s). The revised paper will then be further reviewed by the Editor before the paper is accepted;
  • Rejected: the paper is rejected, the author receives a full report on the reasons why.
  • Resubmit for review: the paper needs major revisions. The author is requested to resubmit the paper for another review round provided that the comments from the referees have been taken into account.

Procedure and time line

After submission the corresponding author receives a confirmation of reception. Due to the many papers we receive the review process may currently take 2-3 months, but this depends strongly on the subject and the details of the article. Our main policy is not to compromise on quality, so in some cases the reviewing time can be longer. Once a paper has been accepted for publication you will be asked to pay the Article Processing Charges for the Open Access publication of your paper. Once this payment is received, the paper will be elaborated by our copy-editor, so that it is suitable for on-line publication. Before its publication, the galley proofs of the paper will be sent to the corresponding author for proofreading.

Publication policy and Open Access

Papers will be prepared for on-line publication on the JNMP website as soon as they have been accepted. From then on they will be available in PDF to the JNMP subscribers from the website of our publishing partner Taylor & Francis. Authors will receive a copy of the final file as published in JNMP, incl. JNMP formatting and page numbers.

It is also possible to publish your paper in Open Access mode. For more details, please check the T&F OA-page.
