Development of Learning Media Based on Computation Method in Molecular Shape

Abstract

Good learning media are needed to improve the quality of learning. One of the media that can be used is the use of computer technology, one form of application of computer technology in chemistry is computational chemistry. This study aims to determine the assessment of expert teams on computational method based learning media on Molecular Shape material based on BSNP and find out whether there is a difference in the improvement of student learning outcomes taught with Computational Method Based Learning media on molecular shape material using NWChem software and students taught with using Chemsketch software. This type of research used is research and development that is modified from the development of the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The data sources in this study were 3 expert validators and chemistry students at Medan State University totaling 44 students using a purposive sampling data collection technique. The results showed that the assessment of the expert team on computational learning media based on the Molecular Shape material based on BSNP on the aspect of content worthiness had an average percentage value of 96%, 97% language worthiness, and 85% presentation feasibility analysis and it was concluded that the media was very feasible for used and does not need to be revised. Furthermore, there is a difference in the improvement of student learning outcomes taught by the Computational Method Based Learning media on molecular shape material using NWChem software and students who are taught using Chemsketch software.
