Proceedings of the XIV European-Asian Law Congress "The Value of Law" (EAC-LAW 2020)

The European-Asian Congress "The value of law" (EAC-LAW 2020) was successfully held at Ural State Law University, Ekaterinburg, Russia, on 4–5 July 2020. EAC-LAW 2020 was organized with virtual participation through the cooperative efforts of Ural State Law University and the Organizing Committee from all over the World: Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Germany, Slovenia, India, Brazil, China, Macedonia, Netherlands, Kazakhstan, South Africa, Canada, Australia, Argentina, and Finland.

The event was organized in close cooperation with the local government institutions and sponsors: Urals Legal (Ekaterinburg, Russia), Enforce Low Company (Moscow, Russia), Notary Association of the Sverdlovsk Region (Ekaterinburg, Russia), Yusters Low Company (Moscow, Russia).

Scientific works are presented by researchers from different regions of Russia, representing such universities as Sholom-Aleichem Priamursky State University, Saratov State Law Academy, Sakhalin State University, Far Eastern Federal University, Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, Kuban State University, Ural Institute of Law of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, St. Petersburg University of Humanities and Social Sciences, Krasnoyarsk State Agrarian University, Siberian Federal University, Federal Siberian Research and Clinical Center FMBA, Research Institute of Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, Chuvash state University, Russian State University of Justice, Siberian Law University.

EAC-LAW 2020 aims to develop the scientific cooperation between researchers and practitioners, and provides a forum for them to present and discuss the latest developments in the fields of Law. The participants presented their research on topical issues of Axiological balance of liberty and safety, International regulations of investment and taxation in BRICS states, Challenges for intellectual property in the digital age, Legislation as a guarantee of communal and public interests, Constitutional theory and constitutional values, Social value of labour law, Cultural value of individual rights, Legal protection of genetic data and personal records, Lethal autonomous weapons as a challenge for international law, Modern axiological concepts of law, Contemporary trends in administerial legislation, Corruption: anatomy of the phenomenon.

Pressing issues of COVID-19 Pandemic were also discussed, including studies about labour migrants during pandemic, problems of legal regulation of distance and/or remote labor, and labor legislation of Russia in the era of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

We hope that EAC-LAW 2020 was very useful and fruitful to exchange the experience of research work and facilitated the developing of the scientific cooperation between Russian and international researchers. We would like to thank all the participants of EAC-LAW 2020 as well as the conference organizers, reviewers and editors for their invaluable contribution in preparing the conference proceedings.
