Proceedings of the 2018 International Conference on Energy Development and Environmental Protection (EDEP 2018)
The 2018 International Conference on Energy Development and Environmental Protection (EDEP2018) was held on August 17-19, 2018 in Nanjing, China. Human sustainability involves specific strategies and technologies implemented to preserve and improve the quality of human life. These strategies and technologies should be able to protect our natural environment and resources, while driving technology improvement without compromising our way of life in a world with continuous population growth. Energy, Environment, and Resource utilization are the three most influential sectors that dictate the success of the human sustainability. The aim of EDEP2018 is to provide a platform for researchers, engineers, and industrial strategists to present their research results and development activities in the three influential sectors mentioned. The platform provides opportunities for the delegates to exchange new ideas and application experiences, to establish business or research relations and to find global partners for future collaboration in these three sectors.
The EDEP 2018 conference received around 198 submissions from all over the world; all submissions went through a rigorous peer review process where each submitted paper was reviewed by at least two experts from the area. Based on the review reports, 72 papers were selected for oral presentation in the conference and included in the Proceedings of the 2018 International Conference on Energy Development and Environmental Protection. The selected papers cover all three influential sectors. In the energy sector, the emphasis is on clean energy, including the development and utilization of solar and wind technologies. The energy saving and storage technologies to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions are included, while the less polluting new energy vehicles, equipment, and materials are also discussed. In the environmental sector, the focus is on the development of technology for environmental monitoring, control, and management. In addition, the papers on the design of less contaminated and polluted water and air systems belong to this sector. In the resource utilization sector, the major focus is to develop less polluted and more efficient mining and petroleum technologies. Related papers are scheduled in various other sessions of this conference.
As the editor of the EDEP2018 proceedings, I am indebted to all the authors for their influential and creative articles, and their informative and exciting presentations. I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of paper reviewers for their precious time and valuable comments. On behalf of the organizing committee, I would also like to thank all the attendees, who contributed and created an inspirational environment to make the conference successful. I am particularly grateful to the organizers and sponsoring institutions for their generous support of this conference.
