Abstract

This paper argues that dance education courses in higher education can be structured to enhance students’ sense of empathy thereby building character through taking select course experiences and activities. It will offer reflections on teaching methods and approaches utilized in select dance education courses that I teach at The Ohio State University that promote empathy. I strongly believe that an effective teacher is keenly aware of its transformative power.
