Abstract

This research focuses on optimizing 3D low-poly asset production standards for the Village Meow 2.5D game using a modified Game Development Life Cycle (GDLC) methodology with expert review validation. The development process was conducted during the IGDX Bootcamp 2024 program, concentrating on 3D environment asset creation with emphasis on modeling, texturing, and performance optimization. A descriptive qualitative method combined expert interviews with Unity Profiler performance testing for comprehensive evaluation. Results demonstrate that most assets meet visual and technical requirements, with an average triangle count of 15,000–20,000 triangles for medium-complexity assets. However, several assets required optimization to fully comply with low-poly criteria. The modified GDLC approach proved effective in streamlining asset creation workflow while maintaining quality standards. Expert review validation confirmed that the optimized production pipeline significantly improved asset consistency and reduced development time. This research contributes to understanding efficient 3D asset production methodologies for independent game development.
