Abstract

This research analyzes the distinctive characteristics of contemporary art as manifested in visual artworks produced in Binh Duong Province throughout the period of international integration. The research focuses on local artists and their creative processes, which reveal changes in aesthetic perception and the adoption of modern artistic styles. The research is situated within Binh Duong's cultural and creative milieu, a realm where traditional and contemporary concepts can harmoniously coexist. This setting enables the development of various forms of contemporary visual art. The study examines the era from the onset of Binh Duong's heightened international integration to the present, marked by substantial transformations in artistic forms, material experimentation, and conceptual approaches. A mixed-method study methodology is employed, incorporating field surveys, artwork analysis, and semi-structured interviews with artists, as well as comparative and interpretive methodologies to identify the key elements of the region's contemporary art evolution. The findings indicate that contemporary art in Binh Duong represents a vibrant amalgamation of traditional and modern elements. Their presence is evidenced by motifs reflecting a need for advancement and integration, alongside the persistent utilization of old techniques and materials within contemporary creative contexts.

Simultaneously, preserving local artistic individuality remains a significant element that enhances cultural value and fortifies regional history within the framework of global cultural interchange. The research illustrates the significance of contemporary artistic characteristics in influencing the evolving visual arts landscape in Binh Duong amid international integration. It offers fresh insights for regional and national examinations of contemporary Vietnamese art, emphasizing the evolution and flourishing of localized artistic identities amid global transformations.
