Abstract

“Digital intelligence” is the integration of digitalization and artificial intelligence. The combination of digital intelligence and educational information technology has rapidly promoted the reform, innovation, development, and application of foreign language education programs in general, and Vietnamese language education in particular. Building on the advantages of two national first-class disciplines—Vietnamese Language and Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages—we have developed and innovatively designed a new curriculum structure for the Vietnamese Studies programs at Yunnan Normal University. At the same time, we have reformed the teaching model within the context of digital intelligence, with the goal of substantially improving the quality of talent cultivation from undergraduate to postgraduate levels. Firstly, in order to enhance the appeal, modern relevance, and level of challenge of our training programs, we have developed various forms of digital courses such as virtual experiments, MOOCs, and micro-courses, and integrated them into the curriculum. Over the past five years, we have offered six bilingual courses (in Vietnamese, Chinese, or English). Secondly, based on deep learning theory and connectivism, and by combining the advantages of digital intelligence with human–machine collaboration, we have experimented with constructing a Virtual Literary Experiment Teaching Model. From teaching objectives and learning environments to lesson design and the evaluation of several classical Sino–Nom literary works, digital intelligence technologies are integrated throughout the three stages—before, during, and after class—to promote students’ deep learning. Thirdly, by adhering to the fundamental mission of “cultivating virtue and nurturing talent,” we place emphasis on developing the core competencies of students majoring in Vietnamese Studies. This includes enhancing their Vietnamese language proficiency, strengthening their abilities in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, and fostering research on the cultural interactions between China and Vietnam. Fourthly, the author has led the design and development of an AI-powered intelligent teaching platform, introducing a range of functions such as: automatic AI-generated PPT lessons, instruction through virtual digital teachers, AI-assisted Q&A teaching assistants, HSK examination corpora, terminology databases, and bilingual parallel corpora. These innovations aim to enhance higher-order competencies such as creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and lifelong learning.
