- Abstract
Nowadays, fine arts museums in Vietnam primarily attract international tourists, while younger domestic audiences remain largely disengaged with the museum. In the era of rapid digital transformation, museums are not only repositories for the preservation and exhibition of artistic works but also possess significant potential to serve as platforms for community engagement, art education, cultural connection, and inspiration, particularly if accessibility is expanded to reach a more diverse audience base, especially among youth.
This study examines the potential of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies to bridge this engagement gap. Drawing insights from successful international models, the strategic adoption of AR and VR holds considerable promise in reshaping the role of fine arts museums into dynamic spaces for connection, education, and inspiration for the younger generation in Vietnam’s increasingly digital society.
