- Abstract
In the digital age, the teaching and learning of Languages for Specific Purposes (LSP) has undergone significant transformation, driven by technological advancements and changing learner needs. At Sai Gon University, where students are increasingly preparing for careers in specialized fields such as tourism, business, and technology, LSP instruction is essential in equipping them with the communicative competence required in professional contexts. However, adapting LSP pedagogy to digital platforms presents both opportunities and challenges. This study aims to examine current practices, perceptions, and outcomes of teaching and learning LSP at Sai Gon University within a digitally mediated environment. It investigates how digital tools and resources are integrated into the curriculum, how students and instructors perceive their effectiveness, and what pedagogical adjustments are needed to enhance learning outcomes. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining surveys of 100 LSP students with in-depth interviews of 10 language instructors. Classroom observations and analysis of digital learning platforms were also conducted to triangulate findings. Results reveal that while students generally respond positively to the integration of digital technologies such as language learning apps, virtual simulations, and multimedia content there remain gaps in digital literacy, access, and instructor training. Furthermore, task-based learning and authentic materials were found to significantly improve student engagement and practical language use. The study concludes that effective LSP instruction in the digital age requires a balanced integration of technology with contextually relevant pedagogy, continuous teacher development, and institutional support.
