Abstract

This study aims to improve digital literacy and reduce the negative impact of digital technology on the quality of student learning. The main research questions are: 1) What is the level of digital literacy understanding of senior high school students in Palu City before and after digital training? 2) What is the negative impact of digital technology on the learning of senior high school students in Palu City before and after digital literacy training? 3) Can digital literacy training improve digital literacy understanding among students at SMAN 1 Palu? This study was a quantitative, quasi-experimental study with a pre-test and post-test design. The participants were high school students participating in a two-day digital literacy training program at SMAN 1 Palu, SMAN 4 Palu, and SMAN 5 Palu. A total of 58 students were randomly selected as representatives of high schools in the city, selected purposively based on geographic location. Data collection used a digital literacy questionnaire and a questionnaire on the negative impact of digital technology on the quality of learning. Data analysis using Paired Samples t-test and Simple Linear Regression with the help of SPS statistics version 26. The results of the data analysis show that 1) There is no difference in students’ digital literacy before and after being given digital training. 2) Based on the Model Summary Table, it was found that there is an effect of digital literacy training on the negative impact of digital technology on high school students in Palu city with an R value of 0.025 <0.05. 3). Digital literacy training does not improve the understanding of digital literacy in high school students in Palu city.
