Abstract

This article aims to sort out the features of Chinese EFL vocational college students' realization of the speech act---- apology with method of DCT. The analysis of the discourse completion tests focus on the strategies of apology that two groups of students with different English proficiency use. The conclusion is that there is almost no difference between the two groups in realization of apology which indicates that the vocational college learners' level of English proficiency doesn't guarantee the pragmatic competence.
