- Abstract
This paper aims to investigate the mental health status of international students enrolled in Jiangsu Normal University in 2024. A total of 486 international students were randomly selected for the Symptom Check List-90(SCL-90) questionnaire survey. After obtaining the survey data, Eviews10 regression analysis was used to examine the effects of factors such as gender, age, student type, duration of study in China, Chinese proficiency, religious belief, marital status, whether receiving government scholarships and whether coming from countries along the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The results showed that gender, age and marital status did not affect the mental health status of international students. International students who had been in China for a longer time and had better Chinese proficiency had better mental health status. Graduate students generally had better mental health status, while international students who had not received government scholarships and those from countries along the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) had slightly worse mental health status.
