Abstract

The Free Nutritious Meal Program or “Makan Bergizi Gratis” (MBG) by the Indonesian government requires guidance to support its implementation through positive ecological guidance and counseling. This study developed an initial prototype of the Positive Ecological Guidance and Counseling module through two stages: (1) needs analysis and (2) initial product design, using a partial Research and Development (R&D) approach without field trials. A total of 801 respondents (aged 13–40 years, comprising students and teachers) participated in the needs analysis. Results indicated that 97.3% required guidance on maintaining cleanliness, 92.4% on diet management, and 88.8% on communication skills related to MBG. The designed module includes stages of nutrition education, group counseling on diet and communication, peer counselor empowerment, environmental and social integration, parent and community involvement, and evaluation. These findings provide a foundation for developing school-based guidance and counseling services to optimize MBG implementation.
